Cricket at Crossroads in India (2nd part)

So...India came into this ongoing Asia Cup at Bangaldesh with mixed expectations and Sri Lanka & Pakistan clearly were seen to be the better form teams, with all due respects to hosts Bangladesh, almost all of thought them to be 4th best in this 4 nation tournament.

But on Friday Bangladesh did beat India even as we were rejoicing in our dearest Sachin Tendulkar's much awaited 100th ton and hoping somewhere that Bangladesh would self-destruct as their history with chasing most of the times gave me hope. But on that day they proved all of us wrong and even surprised themselves and crossed the line.

Now later today (Sunday) the mother of all battles, India vs Pakistan is scheduled and Pakistan, a tempramental team always, must be sleeping easier as they are already in Finals and all the running is to be done by India. Hope we put up a good show against our arch-rivals and above all we get to see a good battle.

This match might show the way where our cricket is heading in near future. But it is at crossroads certainly, no?

Cricket at Crossroads in India

Cricket and India are inseparable to say the least. The commercial capital of the cricket world is India without doubt everybody knows that.

But successive 0-4 losses to England and Australia away i.e. 8 losses overseas has surely put the nation some years behind where it found itself prior to the departure to England in summer of 2011 after the absolute high of One Day World Cup triumph after 28 years. The problems seem magnified manifold when India returned just days back...
